Sonshine was the first band that I was involved in after I accepted Christ. We had been playing together for a while and we felt that we were ready to do an album. This was my first time in a "real" 16-track recording studio. It was very exciting and a great experience.

Sing Unto Him A New Song - CURTIS ALLEY (1984)
I had been writing a lot of new material that I decided to get them down on tape. I recorded several of them on a 4-track recorder in my living room. I layed down basic tracks of piano, vocal and drums and then added a guitar part later. (I didn't get around to putting a bass part on the tracks). I selected 10 songs from that session and released them on a cassette.

Curtis/Crossover MIX (1984-1985) - CURTIS ALLEY (1985)
I made this compilation cassette from 4-track and 8-track recordings of my solo material and the Crossover EP plus a couple of live recordings. Some highlights on this recording is the 4-track demo version of "I will abide in You" and a song written for Far Hills Baptist Church which was used in a video as a theme song for their debt retirement program called "Foundations to Freedom".

Crown Of Jewels - CURTIS ALLEY (1986)
After my time with Sonshine/Crossover had ended, I decided to get back into the studio and record some of my newer material. So I scheduled some time in a 16-track studio and I invited some friends to help out. A fellow by the name of Tom Levack engineered the project and also played on some of the tracks. Mark McFarlan played the drums and I overdubbed the keyboard parts. A couple from my church, Joe and Janice Codispoti, lent their voices to the last two tracks. ("Just one name" was a powerful song and I didn't have the range!) This was the first time the "Cassia Music" logo appeared.

1987 - CURTIS ALLEY (1987)
This was a fun project! I was member of another band called ANTHEM and we rehearsed in my garage. I borrowed a Fostex 4-track recorder and asked Scott Wilson, one of the band members, to program some drum tracks. I layered the keyboards and my vocals to give it a full sound. I spent many long hours out in that garage doing overdubs and bouncing tracks! Some of the songs were written at that moment! Originally, I had recorded approximately 60 minutes worth of music, but later I dropped four tracks, edited two tracks and re-released it at around 40 minutes.

Edited Track Listing
Triumphal Entry (instrumental) (Alley)

Decade (1978 - 1988) - CURTIS ALLEY (1988)

Anthem - ANTHEM (1988)
ANTHEM was another band that I was involved in. We had a very progressive sound due for the most part to Tom Fitzgeralds' excellent guitar work and Scott Wilsons' strong vocals. I played two Korg DSS-1 keyboards which, as a "piano man", was very different for me. I grew in my writing ability through collaborating with other musicians on the songs. This album was done in an 8-track home studio. We never actually made it available for sale, but some of the copies made it to friends and family. Some of the tracks were later released in 1994 on "The Works" album.

Track Listing
Lift Up Your Voice (Alley)
Over Me (Fields/Alley/Fitzgerald)
Heart Cry (Levack/Alley/Wilson)

A Road Less Traveled (EP) - ANTHEM (1989)
ANTHEM had been playing concerts for a while and the band had jelled into a tight group! We felt it was time to do a quality studio recording. We found a great 16-track studio, Logos Productions, and chose our five best songs. It was meant as a extended play cassette for sale and also to send off to the record companies.
Track Listing
Over Me (Fields/Alley/Fitzgerald)
A Road Less Traveled (Alley/Wilson)
Only A Moment Away (Alley)
Holding On To The Dream (Alley)
City Of Light (Fitzgerald/Alley)

The 90's:

Love In The World - DITTIES (1990)
After my time with ANTHEM was through, I wanted to do a fun project that I had on the back burner for a while. The Beatles was one of my favorite groups and I experimented with emulating their songwriting style. So, Chris Sievers, Anthem's drummer, and I locked ourselves up in a room at his brothers house and used his 8-track recorder to make this album. I think it turned out great! I came up with a ficticious name for the band... The Ditties! It sounded like "Beatles" and it means a short simple song. My intent wasn't to plagerize anyones material, just to have some fun! This was the also year I created "No Label" records.

Track Listing
Love Can Do (Alley)
How Am I Supposed To Feel (Alley)
Don't Want To Wait So Long (Alley)
Don't Lose Faith (Sievers)
Hey I Love U (Alley)

J3:16 (Alley/Sievers)
Goodnight (Alley/Doudney)

You and Me - CURTIS AND CASSIA (1990)
I borrowed a 4-track recorder to lay down some tracks of my newer material. I used my Korg DSS-1 and my daughters' Casiotone for drum tracks and additional keyboards. I kept the arrangements simple and did few overdubs. I wanted to also include my 8-year old daughter, Cassia, on some of the songs. It was great fun watching my daughter get excited about recording. She even got to a point where she wanted to sing solo!! But, at eight years old I had to help her a bit!

Track Listing

Some Of My Best - CURTIS ALLEY (1991)
While recording the album "Inside", I took the opportunity to remix some older tracks and record a new song, "Break the Chains". So I made another compilation cassette of what I felt were my best songs.

Track Listing

All Things Through Christ (1983) (Alley)

Inside - CURTIS ALLEY (1991)
The songs on this project were written during a time when my life was filled with change and disappointment. They reflect a more personal side of me... thus the title. "In Your Eyes" was a very special song I wrote for my daughter to help her through this time. I recorded it in my dining room on a friends 8-track. Chris Sievers and I did all the instrumentation and vocals. I used the stairwell leading to the basement to record my vocals. It gave them a nice sound.

Track Listing

Captured Live! - ANTHEM (1991)
While recording "Inside", I took advantage of the use of the 8-track recorder and mixed down a live concert that "Anthem" did at a church. I selected some of the tracks to put on side one and I put selected cuts from another concert on side two. The second concert was recorded directly to a cassette at an outdoor high school graduation party. Side one has better sound quality but, side two has a very enthusiastic audience!

Track Listing

Lift Up Your Voice (Alley)

Together - Wayne, Cindy & Curt (1992)
Wayne Napier and I go way back to "Sonshine/Crossover" days. We continued to keep in touch and sing together often. I wanted to record with him and his wife, Cindy, as a trio. We recorded this album on his 8-track home studio. The highlights on this project are Wayne and Cindy singing a duet called "When We Turn Out The Lights" and a version of "Eternity" that has a great lead guitar part played by Nathan Stanaford.

LIVE AT HARVEST - CURTIS ALLEY (1993)
It had been a while since I had performed in concert. I wanted to share my music with my home church so I invited some friends to help out. It was an intimate evening of song, praise and worship. The performance was recorded directly to cassette through the church sound system. The quality wasn't too bad so I edited it down and released a cassette of the concert.

Classics - CROSSOVER (1994)
While recording "Together" with Wayne and Cindy Napier, I noticed that Wayne had a stack of 8-track tapes of "Crossover" recordings. He consented to let me borrow them and, listening to them, I discovered some material I hadn't heard for a while! I decided to remix some of the songs and add a few other tracks to make this release.

Selected Cuts (1990 - 1991) - CURTIS ALLEY (1994)

Home For Christmas - CURTIS ALLEY (1994)

The Journey So Far - CURTIS ALLEY (1995)
I had always wanted to do another recording in a 16-track studio. The only problem was cost! But, I took my time (over a year) to lessen the financial impact! Anthem had recorded at Logos Productions before and I knew it would be a quality product. So I went in with Steve Matthews engineering (and doing most of the instrumentation) and I recorded some new and some old material - sort of a "best of" album. The song "The Journey ...so far" was about acknowledging God's guidance of my life up to this point so, I thought it was an appropriate title for the project. A few of the tunes are autobiographical which made this album more personal. Lee Behnken, a very talented local Christian artist, consented to lend his voice to sing background vocals on some of the tracks.

Looking For Stanley (EP) - LOOKING FOR STANLEY (1996)
Nathan Stanaford was a young man from my church who played guitar. I had used his talents on other projects and he had wanted to work with me for some time to do a recording. He had several musical ideas that he put down on cassette. I set down to put a melody and lyrics to them. This EP is definitely ROCK! Since it was a joint effort, I came up with a ficticious name for the band - "Looking for Stanley". It's a combination of Stanaford and Alley.
Track Listing

Hey, Little Child (Stanaford/Alley)

PRIVATE COLLECTION - CURTIS ALLEY (1997)
For a long time I had wanted to release an album on CD. I loved the quality and program versatility of CDs. When the opportunity afforded itself to get some studio time in trade for a keyboard I owned, I decided to remix some of my 4- and 8-track recordings. The majority of the songs were released on other albums, however, I included a bonus track of a new song and a previously unreleased song. This project turned out nice and the studio cost was minimal!

Twenty (Special Pre-Release) - CURTIS ALLEY (1998)
"It was twenty years ago, today..." I could hardly believe that it had been twenty years from the day when I accepted Jesus! I wanted to do a special project in the studio to celebrate and to share what God has done. It was going to be called simply "20" and include one song from each year! But, my finances were tight so I had to schedule the studio for a few days over a period of time. I had also planned to do a 20th anniversary concert but I knew I wouldn't have the album finished in time to be available for it. So I opted to release this special cassette of the work in progress for the live concert.

20 LIVE - CURTIS ALLEY (1998)
I decided to go all out and give a concert at my home church. Many of my friends helped out by donating their time and talents! I had a full band with backup singers, lights and even a specially built stage. A friend even got a radio spot for me on the local Christian station. Several hundred people showed up and a wonderful time was had by all! I recorded the concert on digital 16-track and mixed it down for release on cassette.

The 2000's:

TWENTY - CURTIS ALLEY (2000)
In celebration of twenty years as a Christian, I wanted to release a CD of music written over the years. One song written during each of the twenty years. This version of the project does exist in a few copies. However, after reconsideration, I released a condensed version which was more palatable. This project was a labor of love and in gratitude to Jesus. I tried to use original recordings made at or around the time each song was written and "enhanced" them with more instrumentation and vocals! If the quality was too bad, I re-recorded them in a 24-track studio.

Walk in the Light - CURTIS ALLEY (2005)
I was pleased and inspired by how the project "It's Amazing" turned out that I selected some material that I wrote in the 80's and went back into the studio. I decided to work with some new musicians and gave the sound a more traditional feel.

Lift Up Your Voice - VARIOUS (2007)
This project was a long time dream. I had met some very talented vocalists over the years and I had many songs not suited for my vocal range. I wanted to work with these artists and create a special project featuring them. I planned on doing some background vocals but no lead part. But I ran out of time and money, so I had to do one of the songs myself. Steve Mathews did all the arrangements and instrumentation and I produced the vocal tracks. This is a project very dear to me.

Curse of the Reasonably Comfortable Chair - CURTIS ALLEY (2010)
This group of songs speaks about relationships and how they've interacted in my life. This is a departure for me as most of the material was written in collaboration with another musician, Nathan Stanaford. Also, it was produced by Chris Sievers which gave this project a whole different feel and momentum.

reVisited - CURTIS ALLEY (2015)
A fellow musician from "Sonshine", Mike Hoover, asked if I would make background tracks of some of my earlier songs for him to sing at his church. So I reworked the songs (in a lower key) and as I sang the guide vocal tracks, I thought I'd compile them with some other tracks I had to make this release. I recorded them in my apartment on a digital 8-track. Nathan Stanaford played guitar.
